Derek began his working life by spending 31 years as an officer in the Royal Navy, initially at sea as a specialist Weapon Engineer Officer and latterly in training management, strategic planning and organisational change roles. He took early retirement to establish his own successful training and consultancy company before spending 2 years in the Private sector as a regional training operations manager and with responsibility for developing partnering behaviours. He takes real pride in building professional and effective relationships with clients and seeing their job search campaigns through to a satisfactory conclusion.

Derek has a Master’s degree in Strategic HR, Change and Development and he is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
